Matt Haviland
My name is Matt Haviland. I am a single
father to a BEAUTIFUL daughter whom, next to my
salvation, I love and cherish more than anything else in
the world!  I was born into a single parent family living with
my mom.  I saw my dad for several hours weekly, but never
developed a strong bond with him, or spiritually.  Starting when I
was around 18 and lasting for the next 8 years, I began an awful battle
with drugs and alcohol.  During this period I completely destroyed and
abused my body through cocaine, ecstasy, alcohol, women, money, and
so on.  I overdosed twice and should've been killed (but was saved by God's grace) in a terrible car accident.  On March 14, 2001- I gave my life to Christ.  However, I did not get involved with church, never changed my environment, and never pursued God for the years that followed.  I had times of sobriety, and times of abuse.  Eventually in March of 2005 I met a girl, whom would soon turn out to be the mother of my child.  The relationship didn't last long, and my daughter was born in May of 2006.

Shortly after my daughter's birth I realized something had to change.  I started attending a new church and immediately recommitted my life to Christ, but this time- with a new found passion and energy!  I was baptized a few months later on May 16, 2007.  Since then, I have gotten involved with several church ministries, become friends with Godly men and women, and have completely surrendered my life over to Jesus.  This is my prayer for you: That you will hear and follow His voice; That He will bless your life as He has blessed mine; and that we will walk in His light, becoming the fathers that we were meant to be, "training our children up" in a way that honors Him and letting all the world know of the glory of Jesus Christ!
